Carlton Town Lions 5 – 3 Long Eaton United

A cup game this week and a big test for Carlton Town who came up against first division Long Eaton United.

Carlton settled quickly despited the bad weather conditions and took the lead through leading goal scorer Dan Chambers. Carlton started to dictate play and were not fearing first division opposition by showing they can play with the best which paid off again with Dan Chambers grabbing a brace.

Long Eaton started to get more involved in the game and were rewarded a dubious penalty which was dispatched past Sam Heason. This didn’t deter the Lions, however, with Chambers going on to score another to get himself a first half hattrick. Marcus Barton added a 4th to make it 4-1 at half time.

In the second half, Long Eaton came out fighting and grabbed a second but the game was put out of reach when a quick corner from Emerson Whitham and Brendan O’Donnell resulted in Marcus grabbing his second of the game.

Debuts were given to Harry Lyons and Joe Scott who put in solid performances in their first game.
