Woodthorpe Rangers 2 – 3 Carlton Town Lions

With one fixture left to play after this week, it was a game to see if the Rangers could tame the Lions! Carlton are on a winning streak which started in October but once again, the Lions were too strong for their opponents.

On an awful pitch, the ball was hard to get down for both teams. For twenty minutes Woodthorpe were the stronger team but, as always, Carlton woke up and Ousman Sagnia used his skill, pace and power to smash the ball home for Carlton to make it 1-0 to the Lions at half time.

In the second half Carlton knew a win was a must and, with some trickery and strength, Dan Chambers set up Marcus Barton to make it 2-0.

Woodthorpe soon found some fight and got two quick goals to make it 2-2 to put them back in the game.

With ten minutes remaining, Carlton pushed forward and the ball broke to ex-Woodthorpe striker Connor Pauley who used his trickery to put it past the Rangers keeper.

Carlton went out to win the game and did just that with the final whistle ending the match at 3-2.

One game left for the Lions – its all very exciting! COYL!
