GUIDANCE FOR CONDUCTING VIEWINGS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The Government is encouraging people to do their property searching online wherever possible. Initial viewings should be done virtually wherever this is possible and physical viewings should only be conducted where buyers are seriously considering making an offer on a property.
Given the unprecedented situation we are currently experiencing, our objective is to carry out property viewings in a safe, controlled manner, ensuring we do our utmost to protect both sellers and buyers alike. With this in mind, please read the following information taken from the GOV.UK website in regard to viewings:
1: If any member of either the household being viewed, or the household undertaking a viewing is showing symptoms of coronavirus or is self-isolating, then a physical viewing should be delayed.
2: Viewings should be conducted by appointment only and no open house viewings should take place.
3: A maximum of two people should attend a viewing appointment; additional viewers will politely be declined access. The viewers should both be members of the same household.
4: If you are viewing the property, please be sure to be present promptly for your allotted viewing slot; this is to ensure no overlap with a previous or subsequent appointment. If you arrive early for your appointment, please wait in your vehicle until your viewing time or until the Vendor or our representative has indicated that it is safe for you to approach.
5: Viewing appointments are limited to 15 minutes only (unless otherwise communicated to you at the property).
6: Sales particulars will not be provided on viewing appointments due to the current risk; sales particulars remain available for you to download from our website.
7: If your property is being viewed, you should open all the internal doors prior to the viewing and allow access to handwashing facilities and ideally separate towels/paper towels. All viewings should be as contactless as possible. We would politely ask viewers to refrain from touching surfaces at the property where possible.
8: Once the viewing has taken place, the homeowner should ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned with standard household cleaning products and towels disposed of safely or washed as appropriate.
Please understand that these protocols have been put in place with your safety in mind and we kindly ask that you adhere to it for the duration of your viewing appointment.
