Hyson Green Cavaliers 2 – 6 Carlton Town Lions

After last week’s heavy defeat, Carlton needed to get back to winning ways and from the start they knew the job was in hand.

Carlton started fast and were asking questions of Hyson Green’s defence early on with Alex Bertolaso firing an early shot on goal. It wasn’t long before Carlton took the lead through a corner and Marcus Barton was on the end of it to head in.

It was then time for Ousman Sagnia Minteh to start showing his flair, bagging 2 for Carlton and making it 3-0

Daniel Chambers, Carlton’s top scorer, had to come off through a knee injury and was replaced with Harry Colquhoun who made it 4-0 before the break to make it a comfortable first half.

In the second half, Hyson Green came at the Lions for the first 10 mins and broke through the Carlton back line to pull one back.

Carlton were then rewarded a penalty and captain Bailey Kilcullen stepped up and slotted home.

Ousman Sagnia Minteh completed his hatrick with a mistake from the Hyson Green defence, rounding the keeper to make it 6-1.

There was a late reply from The Cavaliers to get a second but overall a solid performance from Carlton. The midfield worked extremely hard with Emerson Whitham and Christopher Janschke keeping the show running.

A great win which sets The Lions up for their game against league leaders Basford United on Saturday.
