On the day of completion, a chain of financial transactions is set in motion. Your buyer’s solicitor transfers the funds to your solicitor. Once they confirm receipt, the sale of your old home is officially complete. Your solicitor will then forward the funds for your purchase on to the next solicitor in the chain.
We act as the central point for the keys. As soon as each solicitor confirms a sale is complete, they will call us to authorise the release of keys to the new owner.
Your Morning at Your Old Home
Before you leave your property for the last time, it’s important to take final meter readings for gas, electricity, and water. Taking a quick photo of each meter on your phone is the easiest way to keep a clear record for your suppliers.
Have your ‘essentials box’ with items like a kettle, snacks, and phone chargers packed and ready to travel with you. Once the property is empty and tidy, simply drop all sets of keys with us.
Arriving at Your New Home
Once we receive the call that your purchase is complete, we’ll let you know that the keys to your new home are ready for collection. As soon as you arrive, one of the first things you should do is locate and take readings of the new meters. This provides a clear starting point for your new accounts and ensures you won’t be charged for the previous owner’s usage.
With that done, you can bring in your essentials box, put the kettle on, and take a moment to enjoy your new home before the removal van arrives.
